Never set up an API key before? Here's exactly how.
Ravina and Nativra ask you to connect your own AI account instead of charging a subscription — that's the whole idea behind RYUN being free. If you've never done that before, it's genuinely just these four steps, and the two options below are both free forever for normal use.
Google Gemini
Recommended if you already have a Google account.
- Go to aistudio.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Look for a button called "Get API key" (top-left or top-right of the page).
- Click "Create API key". It generates instantly — no form to fill out.
- Copy the key and paste it into RYUN.
Groq
Fastest option — good if you don't want to use a Google account.
- Go to console.groq.com.
- Sign up with Google, GitHub, SSO, or just an email address — whichever's easiest.
- Click "API Keys" in the top navigation, then "Create API Key".
- Copy the key and paste it into RYUN.
Both companies' sign-up screens change their exact wording from time to time — if a button says something slightly different than what's written above, look for the one that says "API key" or "keys." Either provider's free tier is enough for normal day-to-day use of Ravina or Nativra.
Why does RYUN ask for this instead of just charging me?
Every scan, translation, or interview simulation runs on an AI model — that costs real money per use. Most apps hide that cost inside a $15–30/month subscription. RYUN skips the markup: you pay the AI provider directly, at their normal rate (often a fraction of a cent per use), and RYUN itself stays free. Your key is stored on your own device, never on RYUN's servers.
